President expected in Mutare for ZILGA conference
Municipal Reporter PRESIDENT Mugabe is expected to officially open the Zimbabwe Local Government Association third belated biennial conference in Mutare today (Friday. The conference which began yesterday (Thursday) runs under the theme: "Innovative Local Community Development for Investment Promotion and Employment Creation."Vice-President Joice Mujuru is expected to close it tomorrow.Several Government ministers and captains of industry are expected to address the local authorities.In an interview on Wednesday, Zilga's interim secretary-general, Mr Rodgers Mozhentiy, said the purpose of the conference was to bring municipalities' act together and review past performances. He said issues that will top the agenda include challenges facing local authorities especially, cash flow problems, defaulting rate payers, current legislation and the ongoing indigenisation programme."We want to bring our act together as local authorities and take stock of past achievements and review our performances.
