The Zimbabwe Tourism Authority (ZTA) has dismissed assertions that low uptake of exhibition stands for this year’s edition of the annual Sanganai/Hlanganani World Travel and Tourism Africa Fair is due to western travel warnings on Zimbabwe. He, however, said the tourism authority was still to ascertain the reason. “By this time last year we had registered over 1 000 exhibitors but at present we only have 911(exhibitors).
“But, I should point out that it would be wrong to suggest that travel warnings on the country are responsible for the low figures, that would be speculation since we have not done an analysis to the situation,” he added. According to the ZTA, 171 stands have so far been taken up from categories that include, accommodation, Arts and Craft, Media, Suppliers and Service providers, Conference Facilities, Hunting and Safari Operators and Publicity and Association.
